residential solar installation

Solar is a great addition to any home, especially in Queensland, where it is known to be sunny all year round! Solar can increase the value of your home, reduce electricity bills and is environmentally friendly.

The Process

↓ Step 1 - Get in Touch for an Enquiry

Send the enquiry to BCS via our website, phone or email.

We will contact you to get your details, discuss your requirements and answer any initial questions you may have. At this point, we will ask you to send us copies of your latest electricity account and photos of your switchboard. Now would be the best time to inform us if you have any planned changes to your current electricity usage, i.e new air conditioning to be installed, a new pool or additional people to move in.

We will prepare an initial offsite design and quote. We use up-to-date satellite mapping technology of your property to show the proposed panel number, orientation and layout. We will also provide you with an estimate of your return on investment based on your previous electricity accounts.

↓ Step 2 - Site Inspection

Once you are happy with our initial quote and design we will attend the site to carry out a final measure of your roof and inspect the property for any unforeseen issues that may vary our proposal.

We will provide you with a final quote and design to be agreed upon.

BCS will then issue a deposit invoice to initiate the job, secure and set a booking for your installation to take place.

↓ Step 3 - Energex Documentation & Approval

We will submit the required documentation to Energex regarding the new system to be installed.

Energex will approve the system size and componentry. A system that meets the Energex standard agreement (5 kW inverter with 6.6kw of panels for a property with single-phase supply) will receive approval far more quickly than a system that does not, Larger systems for example may require further investigation from Energex and will therefore take longer to be approved.

↓ Step 4 - Confirm Appointment

BCS admin staff will call prior to the installation to confirm the appointment.

↓ Step 5 - Install Day

BCS tradesmen will arrive on the agreed day, at the agreed time with all the correct components to install your system. Weather Permitting

As part of the installation process, we will ask you to sign off on our STC claim on one of our technician's smart devices. This allows us to claim the STC rebate.

A progress invoice will be issued at this point leaving $500 as a final payment.

After the installation is complete we will submit an Electrical work request ( EWR) to Energex in order to have your existing electricity meter changed by your retail meter provider. Each meter provider will have different time slots to have the meter changed. We find the longest is 20 business days. Some newly built properties have smart meters already installed, the solar reading function may be able to be activated remotely mean a much shorter turnaround.

↓ Step 6 - Activation & Final Invoice

Once the new meter has been activated and installed we will return to the site to activate the system, ensure it is functioning correctly and commission any smart meters or monitoring devices that have been included in your installation. We will help you understand your new system and set up any monitoring apps or devices.

We will issue a final invoice and a system handbook outlining the system, maintenance requirements and any additional information.

Once payment has been received we will contact you for feedback. We are always trying to improve.
